Abstract(s)
Ambas as
Glucose quantification plays a key role in the diabetes diagnosis and treatment monitoring. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the Sigma level of the participant laboratories of the Clinical Chemistry program of PNAEQ (2014-2016) regarding the Glucose quantification, through two different approaches. In the evaluation per sample, the minimum quality specification based on biological variability was considered and it was obtained a mean Sigma level of 1.63, considering 33 samples. In the evaluation per laboratory the desirable quality specification based on biological variability was considered and 79 laboratories were evaluated, obtaining a mean Sigma level of 1.70. Both evaluations indicated performance levels that require improvement actions. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the causes for the observed performance and encourage the laboratories to implement improvement solutions that allow to eliminate or reduce the occurrence of errors and decrease the results variability.
