Abstract(s)
O excesso do consumo de açúcar simples está associado ao excesso de
peso e obesidade, doenças crónicas e ocorrência de cáries dentárias.
Uma par te significativa deste consumo é feita através de bebidas refrigerantes.
Foi realizado um estudo com base nos dados do Inquérito Nacional
de Saúde 2014 (INS 2014) com o objetivo de estimar a prevalência do
consumo de refrigerantes e as suas características sociodemográficas na
população por tuguesa, bem como a sua relação com a autoapreciação
do estado de saúde, problema de saúde prolongado e limitação geral da
atividade. Verificou-se que 31% da população afirmou ter consumido refrigerantes
no dia anterior à entrevista do INS 2014, sendo mais frequente
nos homens, em par ticipantes com idades jovens, nos solteiros, nas regiões
autónomas, em pessoas com baixas habilitações literárias e nos escalões
de rendimentos intermédios. Não se verificaram associações com
as categorias do índice de massa corporal (IMC) nem com a autoapreciação
do estado de saúde, problema de saúde prolongado e limitação geral
da atividade.
The excessive consumption of sugar is associated with overweight and obesity, chronic diseases and with the occurrence of dental caries. A significant par t of this consumption is made through sugar-sweetened beverages. A study was carried out based on data from the National Health Sur vey 2014 (INS 2014) to estimate the prevalence of sugar-sweetened beverages consumption and its sociodemographic characteristics in the Por tuguese population aged 15 and more, as well as its relationship with self-perceived general health, long-standing health problems, and general activity limitation. It was found that 31% of the population stated to have consumed sugar-sweetened beverages the day before the INS 2014 inter view, being more frequent in men, young par ticipants, single persons, in the autonomous regions, in people with low education grade and with intermediate income levels. Any association was found between sugar-sweetened beverages consumption and body mass index (BMI) classes or with self-perceived general health, long-standing health problems, and general activity limitation.
