Abstract(s)
The data collected from the obser vation EVITA instrument allows the surveillance of the occurrence about Home and Leisure Accidents (HLA), in Por tugal. This information can contribute for the planning, monitoring and evaluation of inter ventions related to this area, in the framework of National Health Plan, National Accident Prevention Program, and European level through Injur y Data Base. The information produced by EVITA can also contribute in the perspective of health care management provided in the physical space of hospital emergencies, where EVITA collects information. We conducted a descriptive study using data collected by EVITA between Januar y and December 2018. During this period 106 179 ADL were registered. A quick perception of the weight of this type of accident in the hospital emergency room showed that there were about 47 cases out of 1000 admissions to the emergency room. This was as event that occurred mainly at home (48.2%) and in the school environment (18.3%), caused by fall (66.9%) and the most frequent injuries were bruises (56,3%) and open wounds (19,5%).
