- Collaborative study Brazil-Portugal - alidation of HPV lyophilized samples for the control of molecular testsPublication . The major importance about it is the oncogenic potential of some types. They are referred as a high and low risk for oncogenic potential. Given the importance of the disease it causes, and the use of different laboratorial techniques, mainly techniques of molecular biology, it is mandatory to have an External Quality Assurance (EQA) program base on harmonized standards that rely on consistent controls. The participation in EQA’s programs is mandatory in laboratorieswith an ISO 15189/17025 accreditation implemented. The control of Molecular Biology techniques is absolutely necessary for the quality assurance of the results, the tracking and monitorization of the performance of the reagents. However, one of its limitations is the stability, homogeneity of the material, (ISO/IEC 17043:2010 requisite) as well as the availability of control samples adequate for the parameter to be analyzed. The PNCQ, in order to fill this gap, lyophilised the HPV samples control. In order to do the validation and to test the reproducibility of these lyophilized samples, PNCQ sent to IBIOTECNO , INSA-PNAEQ -DDI and the IPOLFG-SPCLV to be analysed by different methods and reagents in two different countries and different laboratories.

Preparation and validation of lyophilized samples to use as a control of molecular biology tests for HPV is very important. There are several techiniques to performer molecular test to detecte HPV however, it is necessary that their is a sample control whith can be used independent of methodology. Validation of lyophilized samples by different molecular techniques to have harmonized standards relies on consistent control.
- HA1c Performance - “Study Collaboration” between Brazil and PortugalPublication . Valpassos, André; Menezes, Maria Elizabeth; Correa, José Abol; Correia, Helena; Brito, Cristina; Faria, Ana PaulaThe National External Quality Assessment Program (PNAEQ) ) and the National Program of Quality Control (PNCQ), , organizes and coordinates programs for the External Quality Assessment Laboratory. A comparative study was performed between Portugal and Brazil in order to detect similarities, and/or differences, of the results provided by the laboratories that participate in the “External Quality Control” HbA1c program in both countries. The determination of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is used in patients with diabetes mellitus as a key to monitoring the long term blood glucose control. More than 30 different methods used worldwide, based on ion exchange chromatography or affinity electrophoresis and immunological principles limit the comparability of HbA1c values . There were selected to present the performance of HbA1c parameter obtained by the participants of the PNAEQ over the last 5 years and to evaluate the performance of the some sample by participants from PNAEQ and PNCQ .

Valpassos, André; Menezes, Maria Elizabeth; Corrêa, José Abol; Correia, Helena; Silva, Rita; Brito, Cristina; Faria, Ana PaulaThe National External Quality Assessment Program (PNAEQ), inserted in the National Health Institute Dr. Ricardo Jorge (INSA, IP) and the National Program of Quality Control (PNCQ), supported by the Brazilian Society of Clinical Analysis, organizes and coordinates programs for the External Quality Assessment Laboratory. A comparative study was performed between Portugal and Brazil in order to detect similarities, and/or differences, of the results provided by the laboratories that participate in the program “External Quality Control” in both countries. Given the wide range and the variability in the determination of enzymes, a comparative test was performed between the two countries.

A qualidade dos serviços prestados pelos laboratórios clínicos é crucial na prestação de cuidados de saúde, fornecendo informações para as melhores decisões médicas. O Projeto de Melhoria da Qualidade Laboratorial para Países de Língua Portuguesa (ProMeQuaLab), lançado em 2015, é um projeto de colaboração no âmbito da melhoria da Qualidade Laboratorial entre representantes dos diferentes países onde o Português é o idioma oficial. O objetivo do projeto é desenvolver capacidade para implementar e sustentar boas práticas laboratoriais, a fim de melhorar a qualidade dos laboratórios médicos, visando o diagnóstico e tratamento adequados dos doentes. Necessidade da manutenção da realização das visitas aos laboratórios nos diferentes países permitindo a constatação da realidade reportada nas respostas dos questionários. Grande disparidade ao nível dos equipamentos, reagentes e na implementação do controlo da qualidade. Falta significativa de conhecimento sobre controlo interno da qualidade e avaliação externa da qualidade. A metodologia do projeto revelou-se eficaz, uma vez que no último congresso verificámos a aplicação pelos participantes das ferramentas de CQ propostas. É necessário incentivar outros países de língua portuguesa a integrarem o grupo executivo e motivá-los a assumir o cargo de supervisor do projeto. A submissão de pedido para apoio financeiro é essencial para permitir a continuação da implementação contínua desta estratégia educacional e desenvolvimento de ferramentas eficazes de formação.
