Aldeia, Cláudia; Correia, Helena; Silva, Susana Pereira; Faria, Ana Paula; Botelho, Mónica; Baptista Fernandes, Teresa; Moutinho, Maria Guilhermina; Santos Costa, Quirina; Santos Gomes, Gabriela; Júlio, CláudiaPNAEQ’s Parasitic Morphology of the National Health Institute Doutor Ricardo Jorge runs three External Quality Assessment (EQA) surveys per year, for microscopy-based detection of parasites. Human-infecting trematode, Schistosoma mansoni, widely occurs in geographical regions across sub-Saharan Africa, South American countries, the Caribbean and the Middle East. In order to mimic patient-like samples, S.mansoni extracted eggs from mice liver, were used to spike-in negative human faeces. Aims: Prepare negative stool specimens spiked with S. mansoni eggs for EQA testing; Evaluate the spiked sample homogeneity and stability; Assess the performance of participant laboratories.
