Abstract(s)
a estes compostos potenciais efeitos mutagénicos e cancerígenos,
A metodologia
[EN] Water is essential for life and it is crucial to guarantee its chemical and microbiological quality. Chlorine is the most widely used disinfectant to prevent the development of microorganisms in water beside other disinfectants like bromine. Both compounds can react with organic matter present in water forming disinfection-by-product of which the most important are the trihalomethanes (THMs). THMs have been associated with adverse mutagenic and cancer health effects and its monitoring is essential. The aim of this study was to analyze THMs concentration in drinking and public swimming pool water in order to evaluate information to prevent future public health problems. THMs quantification was performed by gas chromatography with electron capture detector (ECD) using solid-phase microextraction technique. We can conclude that the water quality where the chlorine is used, the water quality is good enough, showing reduced default values based on normative standards. On the other hand, the water of swimming pool and jacuzzi disinfected with bromine needs special control because of highest levels of default values, which were usually above the legal limit.
