dc.description.abstractO Instituto Nacional de Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) em articulação com a Direção-Geral de Alimentação e Veterinária (DGAV), notifica anualmente à European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) os dados dos surtos de toxinfeção alimentar ocorridos em Portugal, cuja investigação laboratorial da área alimentar foi efetuada no INSA. A informação reunida, associada aos surtos de toxinfeção alimentar, permite a análise dos dados que incluem, entre outros, o número de surtos, de doentes, de hospitalizações que se verificaram e a caracterização dos agentes etiológicos, dos locais onde ocorreu a contaminação e/ou o consumo e os fatores que contribuíram para a ocorrência. De forma a tornar esta informação mais acessível à população portuguesa, o INSA, desde 2013, tem vindo a publicar anualmente os dados no Boletim Epidemiológico Observações. No ano de 2016, nos laboratórios de Microbiologia do Departamento de Alimentação e Nutrição (DAN) foram analisadas amostras de géneros alimentícios e/ou de superfícies colhidas no local de produção/distribuição alimentar, provenientes da investigação de 24 surtos, tendo sido comunicado que estes surtos afetaram 629 indivíduos, dos quais 80 foram hospitalizados, não tendo sido reportados óbitos. As instituições com residência foram o tipo de local onde ocorreram mais surtos, sendo identificados como principais fatores contributivos abusos de tempo/temperatura, ocorrência de contaminações cruzadas e o uso de matérias-primas não seguras.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractThe National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Food and Veterinary (DGAV) notifies each year to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) the data of foodborne disease outbreaks occurred in Por tugal whose laboratory investigation in the food area was per formed by INSA. The collection of this information associated to foodborne disease outbreaks will enable to analyze the data which include among others the number of outbreaks, cases and hospitalizations verified in these outbreaks and the characterization of the etiological agents, the places where contamination and/or consumption occurred and the contributory factors. In order to make this information more accessible to the Por tuguese population, every year, since 2013, INSA publishes the aggregated data in Boletim Epidemiológico Obser vações. In 2016, in the Food Microbiology Laboratories of the Food and Nutrition Depar tment (DAN), in the scope of the investigation of 24 outbreaks, foodstuf fs and environmental samples collected in the food premises of production/distribution were analyzed, that repor tedly af fected 629 human cases, from which 80 have been hospitalized and without any fatal cases. Residential institutions were the setting where more outbreaks occurred and the main contributory factors identified were time/temperature abuse, cross contaminations and use of food ingredients obtained from unsafe sources.pt_PT
