Abstract: Bromine (Br) is one of the major elements from the halogen group of periodic table, the most frequent form found in nature is bromide. The principal natural reservoir of bromine is ocean water, the largest reservoirs are sea water. Sea spray seems to be the more important source of bromine in soil and plants. The aim of this work was to evaluate bromine contents in foodstuffs consumed by Portuguese population.
